Writing and Administering NSF Grants
Highlights
NSF periodically asks Principal Investigators to provide them with PowerPoint slides that highlight the best aspects of the research they manage. These highlights often appear in presentations for Congress, business interests, or other PIs funded (or hoping to be funded) through the same program.
The Chemistry Division describes some of the goals of highlights and has hints for PIs attempting to write them. This letter emphasizes the purpose of highlights as being "essential to advancing the Division's mission in the following ways:"
- Communicating the value of chemistry research advances and innovations to the public and Congress.
- Illustrating to the public, industry, and science and technology mission agencies the Division of Chemistry's vision, mission, and research and educational activities.
- Justifying our budget request at the Directorate, Foundation, and Federal levels.
- Providing evidence of NSF performance in response to the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA).
